Digital Natives and Immigrants

Image
Mark Prensky brings up some valuable differences between those who were born into the digital age and those who have to adapt to new technologies. While the primary distinction is the overall understanding of technology, but there are pros and cons in the workplace and for education. Many consider the differing technological experiences and skills of students when thinking of new curriculum and teaching methods. And at the workplace there are varying levels of understanding when it comes to technology. Knapps Relationship Model

The Knapp's relationship model helps analyze the different stages people are at in their relationships. There are two maintenance models: coming together and coming a part. Based on this there are several levels or stages you may be at depending on the relationship you are analyzing. I am going to talk about my boyfriend. I would say that we are at the integration stage. We are very comfortable with one another and most people know we are dating. However, it is interesting to see how our relationship has followed the Knapps Model overtime. Our initiation stage was brief - this is when I introduced myself. Followed by the experimentation stage - this is when we discovered we were compatible and had similar values. Then there is the intensifying stage - this is when you continue to get to know each other on a deeper level.  I would say the the Knapps model is fairly accurate and can be used for many types of relationships.

I think overall, these platforms, including instagram have different things to offer, so it really depends on what you are looking for. Is there an ideal number of “friends” or connections individuals have on Facebook that can improve their menta...
